The Crown Oaks, formerly known as the VRC Oaks, is raced on the Thursday two days after the Melbourne Cup and has been run since 1861. Over 100,000 people consistently attend this event which is amazing due to it not being held on a public holiday.
The feature race of Crown Oaks day is the Crown Oaks, it is a Group 1 held over 2,500 metres for 3 year old fillies and over. The day is popularly known as 'Ladies Day' and is famous for the Fashions on the Field celebrations which is a major drawcard of this event.
The Crown Oaks is run at Flemington Race Track in Melbourne as is sponsored by Crown Casino.
