The George Main Stakes is a Group 1 Race held every November at Randwick racecourse. It is raced over a distance of 1,600 meters and is run under weight for age conditions.
The race is open to three year olds plus of any sex and carries a prize purse of $400,000.

Randwick Racecourse Information
Racing has been held at Randwick since 1833. Except for a period between 1838 and 1860, when they were held at Homebush. Granted the right to be called Royal Randwick in 1992, the course has two grass racing surfaces ' the 2224 metre Course Proper and the 2100 meter Kensington track on the inside, plus several training tracks. The largest track in NSW, the Course Proper has sweeping, roomy bends, which give all runners a fair chance.
The 410 mere main straight is 28 metres wide at the winning post. About 300 metres before the finish the track begins a slight incline known as The Rise. Jockeys familiar with the course wait until they have reached its apex before making their sprint home.
The Kensington track is a sand based all-weather surface. The Australian Jockey Club has spent a lot of time and money to improve the drainage and surface of the Course Proper.
