The Brazilian Grand Prix is the last round of the Formula One Championship and is one of the most popular races on the calendar. It is staged at Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos, and is a hugely popular event all over the world as it is the prestigious last race on the calendar.
The Brazilian Grand Prix has been an official race in the Formula One World Championship since 1972, but was hosted between Jacarepagua (1978, 1981-89) and Interlagos (1972-1977, 1979-1980, 1990-Current).
Interlagos is one of the few racing circuits that goes in an anti clockwise direction and has a very long high top-speed section containing bumps, high-speed turns and a little run off area. Interestingly, Interlagos was built on flat terrain, but follows the ups and downs of hilly ground making it harder to drive and demands more power from cars engines. The total distance of the track is 305.909 kilometers, and the Grand Prix features 71 laps.
