The European Grand Prix is the twelfth round of the 2008 Formula One Championship calendar and is a hugely popular event. The European Grand Prix was originally created as an honorary race by the AIACR in 1923, but in 1983 became a stand alone event in the Championship after the success at Brands Hatch, where which it was only a stopgap.
The European Grand Prix only remained on the championship calendar for three years before being replaced by the Hungarian Grand Prix in 1986. Bernie Ecclestone then brought back the European Grand Prix in 1993 to Donnington, it was then staged at Jerez in 1994 and 1997, but has remained at Nürburgring ever since.
In 2008 the European Grand Prix will be held in Spain at the Valencia Street Circuit. The event will be raced over 56 laps for a total distance of 306.488 kilometers. The circuit length is 5.473 kilometers and the event is sure to be huge.
