The Italian Grand Prix is a Formula One race staged yearly at the famous Autodromo Nazionale Monza, and is the fourteenth round on the 2008 Formula One Championship calendar.
The Italian Grand Prix is one of the longest running motor sport events in the world having first started in 1921 and is only one of two Grand Prix's that have been staged every year since the inaugural Formula One Championship, the other being the British Grand Prix.
Monza, the track that stages the Italian Grand Prix, is one of the most historic circuits in the entire world. Due to the long straights and high-speed turns and curves, the drivers are on full throttle for a higher than average percentage of the lap which is popular for racing fans and drivers alike.
The race is held over 53 laps for a total distance 306.720 kilometers, with the circuit being a distance of 5.793 kilometers each lap.
