Rugby League Betting
Rugby League is a prominent sport in countries such as Great Britain, New Zealand, France, and of course Australia. Rugby is played predominantly in the Northern states of Australia in Queensland and New South Wales, but recently Victoria have had success with Melbourne Storm winning the premiership.
There is plenty of Rugby League played throughout the year and betting on it is big business in this country. The NRL competition is the major league in Australia which lasts 24 rounds, but there is also competitions such as the Super League, World Club Challenge, Tri-Nations and World Cups for punters to wager on. Plus the hugely popular State of Origin games between NSW and Queensland.
Betting on Rugby League
Rugby League has a very diverse range of bet types and markets, which is why it’s a very popular sport for punters to wager on. While head to head betting is one of the more popular methods, there is often more value elsewhere in different markets such as points handicaps and line betting, plus score totals and winning margins.
Line betting is where a team is given a handicap which brings the game back to level pecking, and the reason why line betting is a popular bet type is because punters will usually get odds over $1.91 on any given match. As rugby league is not a high scoring game compared to football codes such as AFL, it is easier analysing past results and trends as they are more consistent, meaning punters can take advantage of this and make good profits.
Other popular markets are things like the first and last try scorers, first scoring play, half time / full time bets and half time result. Its important to analyse past results and form trends in the NRL and other Rugby competitions because form is consistent. Head to Head results as well as home and away form must be looked at closely, while teams that build their attack from a solid defence must be looked at closely also.
