Domestic A-League

A-LeagueAustralia's domestic soccer league is the A-League - formed in 2005/06 and now with a huge following around the country. On this page you will find all the betting information you will require for betting on the A-League, as well as match previews, news and detailed stats on each and every match of the upcoming season.

Betting Advice for the A-League

As the A-League only has eight teams involved, finding value in only four matches over a weekend can be a tough gig, compared to that of the ten games a weekend in the English Premier League. But this can also be an advantage as it is much easier to study teams and watch matches in their entirety.

One trend we have noticed in the A-League is that quite often the home ground advantage doesn't always help. Last season the most common result was a victory to the away team, which is uncommon in most soccer leagues around the world. With the league very even, never be afraid to back the away team if you find value, as there will always be a good price for a team to win on the road.

The A-League is also a very high scoring league too, with the potential for a large amount of goals to be scored in a game. Always be on the lookout for attacking teams and markets such as the Under/Over 2.5 goals, as trends can be analysed closely to predict a result.

About the A-League

The A-League was created in season 2005/06 as part of an overhaul of Australian Soccer by Football Australia and the government. It replaced the now defunct National Soccer League (NSL) after years of complacency. The concept for the A-League was a one city, one club format which saw 8 teams involved in the inaugural season. In season 2007/08 the Wellington Phoenix entered the league, replacing the now defunct New Zealand Knights team.
